My beard’s grown bark

My beard’s grown bark

TWIGGED who it is yet? This bearded face is at the centre of a prickly mystery after suddenly sprouting on an ancient tree.

The fuzzy fella has sparked a furious debate among locals since it appeared in moss on the trunk of an ash in Dragonden woods near Dunning, Perthshire.
Some say it's Jesus, others claim it's a caveman - but most seem to believe it's the legendary Serf, a 6th century saint.
One resident said: "Saint Serf came and killed a dragon in these woods - who else would it be?" Wonder if he dyes his roots?

What could they possibly have in common? TOWIE's Lucy Mecklenburgh enjoys a night out at a lap dancing club

Last updated at 7:49 PM on 17th June 2011
She has recently hit headlines after claiming she kissed engaged Mark Wright in Marbella so Lucy Mecklenburgh decided to take her mind off the scandal by chatting to some lap dancers.
The Only Way Is Essex star headed to Platinum Lace Gentlemen’s club last night, where she sipped on champagne and downed shots with a couple of friends.
And the 19-year-old even appeared to receive a lap dance from two strippers at the club in central London.

The ex-girlfriend of TOWIE co-star Mark, who is engaged to Lauren Goodger, went to the club in a skin-tight cut out pink dress and accessorised with plenty of fake tan.
As Lucy and her friends sat down to enjoy a drink, two of the club’s dancer’s approached them to have a chat, before they decided to sit on her lap.

Lucy looked slightly uncomfortable with the attention but giggled about it over another drink.
She then left the club and was seen jumping into a rickshaw with her pal.

Her girls’ night out came after she told New! Magazine that she and her ex became close during a holiday in Spain.
She said: ‘We kissed twice. The first time was in Pangea, and then we kissed when we were on our way back to the apartment complex, where we were all staying.
‘We’d both been drinking so I can’t really remember [how many times we kissed]. I’d had a lot of vodka.’
When asked about rumours she and Wright, 24, had slept together in Marbella, she replied: ‘There was a drunken kiss. But out of respect for Lauren, that’s all I’ll say.’

She also admitted to receiving text messages from the promoter, saying: ‘He was very complimentary.
‘He always said I looked nice and he texted me how hot I looked and that he was falling for me again.’
The former couple split in December after a short lived romance, but Mecklenburgh was seen in an episode of the ITV2 show admitting the pair slept together just a few weeks before he proposed to Goodger.

So far Goodger hasn’t responded to Lucy’s claims but was spotted out last night going to Embassy club in London without her engagement ring.
While Mark Wright has denied the cheating allegations and tweeted after the interview came out on Tuesday: ‘ Not allowed to say too much right now but very shortly you’ll find out the truth.’

Jerusalem rabbis 'condemn dog to death by stoning'

Generic image of stray dog In traditional Judaism, dogs are considered to be impure animals
A Jewish rabbinical court condemned to death by stoning a stray dog it feared was the reincarnation of a lawyer who insulted its judges, reports say.
The dog entered the Jerusalem financial court several weeks ago and would not leave, reports Israeli website Ynet.
It reminded a judge of a curse passed on a now deceased secular lawyer about 20 years ago, when judges bid his spirit to enter the body of a dog.
The animal is said to have escaped before the sentence was carried out.
One of the judges at the court in the city's ultra-Orthodox Mea Shearim neighbourhood had reportedly asked local children to carry out the sentence.
An animal welfare organisation filed a complaint with the police against a court official, who denied reports that judges had ordered the dog's stoning, according to Ynet.
But a court manager told Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot the stoning had been ordered as "as an appropriate way to 'get back at' the spirit which entered the poor dog", according to Ynet.
Dogs are considered impure animals in traditional Judaism.

South Korean troops mistakenly shoot at passenger jet

South Korean troops mistakenly shoot at passenger jet

    Map showing location of Gyodong
South Korean troops have fired at a passenger jet after mistaking it for a North Korean aircraft.
Soldiers on Gyodong island, off South Korea's west coast, fired 99 rifle rounds at the Asiana flight, which was out of range and landed undamaged.
The incident took place early on Friday close to the tense border between the Koreas.
The airliner, which had 119 people on board, was descending at the time to Seoul's Incheon International Airport.
The plane had flown from the south-western Chinese city of Chengdu, an aviation controller told AFP news agency.
Two marine guards fired their K-2 rifles at the civilian flight, according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency.
"The firing continued about 10 minutes but the plane was too far off the rifle's range and it did not receive any damage," Yonhap quoted an unnamed Marine Corps official as saying.
"When the plane appeared over Jumun island, soldiers mistook it as a North Korean military aircraft and fired."
The BBC's Lucy Williamson, in Seoul, says the West Sea - which contains the disputed maritime border between North and South Korea - has been especially tense since two attacks on South Korea last year.
Relations between the two nations have been frosty ever since, with North Korea recently vowing to break ties with the South in retaliation for what it called "psychological warfare" against it.

Morocco's King Mohammed unveils constitutional reforms

King Mohammed VI of MoroccoKing Mohammed VI has promised greater democracy for the people of Morocco

Morocco's King Mohammed VI has announced proposals for constitutional amendments in a landmark speech.
The king said the measures would entrench democratic institutions and protect rights, though he confirmed that he will retain some key powers.
The reforms would give the prime minister and parliament more executive authority and make Berber an official language in Morocco, alongside Arabic.
The proposals will be put to a referendum on 1 July.
The king promised in March to introduce "comprehensive constitutional reform" after anti-government protests inspired by those elsewhere in the region.
    'Historic transition'
Despite the pledge, thousands of pro-democracy protesters have continued to hold demonstrations.

Many activists have been sceptical about the king's promises of change, saying Morocco's 400-year-old monarchy has a long history of enacting superficial reforms.
In his speech broadcast late on Friday on Moroccan TV, King Mohammed outlined his proposals and urged Moroccans to back them.
He said that if the reforms were approved, they would "constitute a decisive historic transition in the process of the building of the rule of law and democratic institutions, and in entrenching the principles and mechanisms of good governance".
An amended constitution would also guarantee "dignified citizenship and social justice", he said.
The independence of the judiciary and efforts to tackle corruption would be boosted, he added, and the reforms would guarantee freedom of expression and gender rights.
    'Real revolution'
But the king also said his own powers would be reduced "as much as possible", with the prime minister gaining the authority to appoint government officials and dissolve parliament.
Moroccan customers watch a live broadcast from Rabat of a speech by Morocco's King Mohammed VI at a cafe in Casablanca, on 17 June 2011Moroccans gave the king's speech a mixed reaction
According to the proposals, various national councils, including a youth council, will enable greater citizen participation.
The king said he would remain as the supreme commander of the armed forces, and retain control over security.
A new article within the constitution formalised his role as the highest religious authority in the country.
"The integrity of the person of the king should not be violated," he said.
"The new formula does not try to put a religious dimension to the person of the king but rather highlights political responsibilities."
The proposals were drawn up by a reform panel appointed by King Mohammed.
Driss Lachgar, minister in charge of relations with parliament, called the draft "a real revolution".
He said it "laid the foundations for a parliamentary monarchy".
As the speech ended, cars flying Moroccan flags drove through the streets of the capital honking their horns, and young people marched along the streets banging drums and cheering.
But some activists were not pleased by the changes.
"Before we had an absolute monarch, now we have an absolute monarch that is a pope as well," said Elaabadila Chbihna, an activist with the February 20 movement that has carried out weekly pro-democracy marches around the country.
Morocco has been facing severe economic challenges with high unemployment and rising levels of poverty.
King Mohammed, 47, acceded to the throne in 1999 following the death of his father, Hassan II, and now heads the Arab world's longest-serving dynasty.
